Murray
Morrison has practiced law in the Kitchener-Waterloo area since
1979. His practice includes business law, corporate law, real estate
law, (both residential and commercial), estate planning law, including
Wills and Powers of Attorney, Estates and Trusts. He also practices
extensively in the areas of business and personal financing including
mortgages, institutional financing (bank) and other business financing
areas.
After
receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph
in 1973, Murray attended the University of Western Ontario and received
his L.L.B ( Bachelor of Laws) in 1977. During his academic years
Murray was a legal researcher and assisted with the revised publications
of the texts of Anger & Honsberger, Law of Real Property and
Falconbridge on Mortgages. Upon successful completion of the Bar
admission program and examinations at Osgoode Hall (Toronto), Murray
was admitted to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Ontario and as a
solicitor through the Law Society of Upper Canada on April 5, 1979. |
While Murray has concentrated his practice in the business, estate and
real estate areas, for many years he practiced in a wide variety of fields
including civil litigation as well as Family Law, Bankruptcy and Insolvency
Law and Insurance Law. This background continues to assist Murray as clients’
needs and problems often require a broad appreciation of various aspects
of the Law.
Murray has extensive experience in a variety of business related law areas
including incorporations, sole proprietorships, partnerships, (general
and limited) shareholder and partnership agreements, amalgamations, corporate
reorganizations, including tax planning issues and compliance.
Murray’s business and commercial law experience assists in both
the start up of new ventures and meeting the ongoing needs of existing
businesses and the personal needs of clients.
Real Estate law is a significant area in Murray’s practice. This
consists of residential purchases and sales, remortgaging, condominium
sales and purchases and commercial and industrial property transactions
and leasing. Murray’s practice includes house sales, purchases and
mortgages as well as multi-unit transactions and investment properties.
Estate planning including Wills, Powers of Attorney, Inter Vivos Trusts
(Family Trusts and Alter Ego Trusts) form a significant part of Murray’s
practice. Murray is committed to a “team” approach to estate
planning matters and recognizes that clients are best served when lawyers,
accountants, insurance representatives and financial planners work together
to achieve the best results for their clients.
Murray believes that each client has individual needs and is entitled
to prompt and efficient service to meet those needs. Murray takes pride
in being as actively involved in every client’s file as much as
is needed and he does not believe in delegating important matters to support
staff.
Murray is married, (to his lovely and talented wife, Michelle) has two
teenage children (Josh and Amy), two cats (Taffy and Pokey) and a dog
(Watson). Murray finds the cats and the dog to be far less trouble and
expense than the teenagers but so far he has kept the kids anyway. |
